Joined by Mark Ortmann and Brian Hennemen of Bottle Rockets (who opened the show) for Sweet Home Alabama through the end of the set (as well as for Maureen, Maureen through the end of the encore). Before Rocket Fuel, Todd recounts all of the recent times he's played in St. Louis. A couple of very honest comments about sobriety and rehab. After What's Wrong with You, Todd offers to tell some stories as long as "one of you drunk assholes doesn't start yelling for Beer Run." Of course, just a minute later as Todd is about to start the D.B. Cooper story, some jackass yells for Beer Run. Todd's response: "That'll work as a joke once. And then I'll get this really nasty Tom Waits look on my face and start playing ballads." Todd introduces Rose City Blues as a song that if "you're from Oregon you might like it. If you're from St. Louis you might want to get a beer or pee." Todd seems to have a really hard time getting through Waco Moon -- a very emotional performance. There is a very quick Sweet Home Alabama tease at the beginning of Vinyl Records. The chorus of Redneck Mother is played after a failed attempt at the Statistician's Blues story. At the beginning of the encore, Todd asks about what there is to do in St. Louis -- but if "you're a jock guy and you want to take us to where you throw your darts, though, don't even bother. But if you're cute girls and you got weed or something and you know some cool bar where they play Dead songs... But, seriously, if you want to talk about the Rams and stuff, wait around for the Goo Goo Dolls."

St. Louis was rocking last night and a little this morning as well. As has been reported here earlier the show was a sellout out and Todd seemed appreciative of that. The Blueberry Hill has room for 200 give or take with seating for only around 30. So being in line early is worth it.
Brian Henneman on electric guitar & Mark Ortmann using only a snare drum of the Bottle Rockets opened the show with a great set. Unfortunately I am not familiar with enough of their material to give a set list for them. Brian told us he calls the Blueberry quite often to try to get on the guest list for various shows and had promised them someday he would due a free opening act and tonight was the night he paid them back.
Todd came out and was in good spirits. I never saw the smile leave his face.

On Alright Guy:
